We’re bringing out the big guns for our first ever winemaker dinner series. Meet the Main Men & Women behind some of SA’s finest farms and find out not only what it takes to make great wine, but the road they traveled to get there. Enjoy a five-course dinner and wine pairing, while our Big Guns share the war stories behind the wine. They’ll also be bringing along their own big guns; their favourite vintages in magnum, for guests to enjoy.
For our first ever BG&M event, we’ve got Big Gun David Clarke from Ex Animo.
David, who has spent more than two decades in the wine industry, has worked in fine wine in Australia, the UK and South Africa. Having earned his sommelier certification through the Court of Master Sommeliers in Australia, David formerly occupied the role of wine director and head sommelier at Vue de Monde, one of Melbourne’s finest restaurants.
Upon relocating to Cape Town in 2013, David was appointed Vice Chairman of the South African Sommelier Association; a position he occupied for four years. Today, David and his wife Jeannette (also a certified sommelier) run Ex Animo, a wine agency based in Cape Town, where they export wine to thirsty people down under.
David will be bringing along some of his finest magnums and even bigger guns (3L!) from well-respected producers such as the Sadie Family, Alheit, Restless River and Luddite, while sharing his knowledge, insights and tales with guests.
